Minutes

  • Meeting opened by Kakeman at 20.23, welcomes attendees and those attending via team-speak. Sound check is sucessfull.
  • The agenda is shared via Google Apps.
  • Membership stands at 24 members.
  • Jordan reports that 8 new names have been submitted for consideration. 3 Logos also submitted.
  • Action: Jordan will provide a voting form by 11/03/04.
  • Vote announced this friday, voting for one week, close voting after next friday’s Electronics Friday

Theme Song

  • No team song update as Tracy is absent

Constitution and House Rules

  • Update on Constitution and house rules. House rules are published via the wiki.
  • Action: Adam to announce via blog and link via important doc page.

ROS Registration

  • No update yet. Amin to check with Brian

Workshops

  • Kakeman would held the session on 2-4pm after the UnixGeek? session.
  • Request for VMware workshop
  • Sweemeng is working on python workshop, tentative starts on early of May
  • Action: Sweemeng to provide outline of workshop and dates

Roadshows

  • Sweemeng suggested contact for Universities
  • MMU-Jian Fu
  • Tinker will publish the table regarding the roadshow schedule.

Corporate sponsorship

  • PCB prototyping machine vendor has been approached, conversation started by Kakeman.
  • Salesman is visiting hackerspaceKL next tuesday nights

Makerspace

  • Adam identified simple projects, is putting together pages on the website - ongoing work in progress.
  • Action: Adam to complete one Simple project by Electronics Friday 11th.

Online Shop

  • Mel is dealing with homebrew tech.
  • Bundles based on maker-menu

T-Shirts

  • Investigate the possibility of having framed Tshirt with price mounted on wall.
  • Original hackerspaceKL founders to sign one for display purposes.
  • New t-shirt desgin will start 2 weeks after new logo has been decided.

Other matters

  • To help spread arduino usage, start own arduino challenge thingy (like robotic challenge), Open to the public to encourage participation.
  • suggestion: held every quarter with revolving themes (robotics or blinky)
  • Different challenges for each contest, eg follow-the-line robot. Display on matrix for blinky

Initial Impression Project

  • Marcus to discuss with team after the meeting.

Pictorial Guide

  • Action: Adam to upload photo of hackerspaceKL to blog page.
  • Adam suggested to make a pdf to make visitors easier to carry

wiki

  • Docs should either go in docs or wiki, avoid duplication.
  • Reference material and news on the website. Everything else on the wiki.
  • Action: Niresh to work with Mel on how to backup web/wiki

Instructable account

  • Common account shared with members to represent the hackerspaceKL

Member Database

  • Stick to google spreadsheet for membership list as quicker to develop, live with the shortcomings.
  • Separate forms for membership and liability waiver.
  • Existing members to sign the waiver form.
  • Action: To produce waiver form + warning sign for outside

Membership Fee

  • Niresh to send notice to unpaid members and due notice
  • Keep the receipt book in space
  • Work on an Operational Process for updating list.
  • Receipt to issue after the new space name decided.
  • Document for standard operation procedure (Receipt Issue)
